Communications Officer (m/f/x)

About this offer

Reporting to the Director of Communications, your main responsibility will be to implement BEUC’s communication strategy for some of the organisation’s priorities (food, safety, health, consumer rights).

The tasks of the position will include

  • Press office function: pitching news stories, maintaining contacts with relevant journalists, responding to media requests, drafting press reactions.
  • Seizing communications opportunities to voice BEUC’s advocacy messages and advising policy colleagues.
  • Developing and implementing campaigns with our member organisations.
  • Writing and editing publications such as factsheets, website texts, and position papers.
  • Coordinating the production of publications and other communication material with external suppliers.
  • Support on horizontal communications tasks where needed and proactively bring ideas to improve BEUC’s communications work.
  • Helping with the organisation of events.

The main qualifications we are looking for are

  • A completed university or higher education degree, or at least three years of relevant work experience where appropriate.
  • A background in communication: at least two years of relevant professional experience in press work, ideally with some established media contacts.
  • You have experience in using a broad range of communication tools and applying them in target-specific situations.
  • A proven interest in understanding, appreciating and articulating the consumer interest
  • You are creative and like to brainstorm with colleagues to develop new ideas.
  • Good knowledge of the EU institutions and its political decision-making process is an asset.
  • English native-level language skills are essential, second EU language an advantage.
  • First-class written and verbal communications skills. You are ready to translate policy texts into non-expert language.
  • You are a team player, dynamic and eager to take up new challenges.
  • You are motivated to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • You are well organised.

  • Salary range between €3,625 and €3,913 gross, depending on experience.
