The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance is looking for a

Communications Officer (m/f/x)

based in Berlin.

The Role

As our new Communications Officer at the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance you would:

  • Work closely with our Head of Communication to deliver our communication strategy.
  • Provide Programs colleagues with strategic communications advice to support their activities and disseminate their resources.
  • Create, edit and publish digital and print communication collateral like news articles, video scripts, annual reports, and flyers, often in close collaboration with our experts and colleagues from other departments.
  • Implement our media strategy together with an external PR agency and the Head of Communications, draft op-eds and media statements.
  • Collect data on and help define key performance indicators.
  • Oversee content production and reporting for our monthly newsletter.
  • Manage the IHRA website (WordPress) and implement SEO best practices.
  • Research and prepare briefing materials, including talking points, presentations, statements, and speeches on a broad range of topics for IHRA leadership.
  • Support our Programs team with planning and running events and producing communication assets for their projects.
  • Support communications around IHRA Plenary Meetings, including writing press releases and talking points.

About you

  • A master’s degree in history, political science, sociology, communication, or related discipline or equivalent work experience in the communication field.
  • Relevant professional experience with a focus on communication and writing, preferably in an international environment would be an asset.
  • Your English is excellent (C2 CEFR). Some German would be an advantage.
  • You are self-organized and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects with various deadlines and priorities.
  • You approach political topics, and intercultural cooperation sensitively and you are willing to learn and grow together with the rest of the team.
  • You have an interest in Holocaust-related issues.
  • You are available for occasional business travel, including for the IHRA’s bi-annual week-long plenary meetings.
  • Experience with Indesign or with optimizing web content for search engines would be a plus.
  • Ideally you are based in Berlin, but remote candidates within Germany would also be considered. Applicants should already hold a valid work permit for Germany.
