The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) is the only intergovernmental organization with a mandate focused on addressing contemporary challenges related to the Holocaust and genocide of the Roma. We foster education, remembrance, and research about what happened in the past, to build a world without genocide in the future.

The IHRA is looking for an

Event Coordinator (m/f/x)

The Role:

As our new event coordinator, you would:

  • Plan, organize, and implement the biannual IHRA Plenary meetings in close cooperation with the team of the country holding the Presidency.
  • Manage the event registration process including initial communication with potential attendees.
  • Brief incoming Presidencies about the successful running of an IHRA Plenary, key dates and deadlines, and relevant practical issues.
  • Coordinate with the Presidency and Permanent Office staff to ensure that the event runs smoothly both ahead of and during the Plenary itself.
  • Contribute to maintaining our directory of delegates in Sharepoint.
  • Communicate with our international delegates by phone and email to offer support and troubleshoot issues.
  • Carry out general office tasks and ad-hoc assignments as needed.

About you:

  • You have relevant professional experience in event coordination.
  • You have a good level of written and spoken English (C1 CEFR).
  • You are well organized and able to work autonomously.
  • You are calm under pressure and can handle multiple issues with various deadlines and priorities.
  • You approach political topics and intercultural cooperation sensitively and you are willing to learn and grow together with the rest of the team.
  • You are familiar with standard Office365 apps, in particular for word processing and communication.
  • You are available for occasional business travel, including for the IHRA’s bi-annual week-long Plenary meetings.
  • You are supportive of the IHRA’s mission “A world that remembers the Holocaust. A world without genocide.”

Assets would be:

  • Professional training in event organization.
  • Understanding of or experience with double-entry accounting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Sharepoint.
  • Experience in an international and/or diplomatic work environment.
  • Basic German language skills.

What you can expect:

  • A time-limited contract until 30 June 2026.
  • A 39-hour work week, part-time work possible.
  • Remuneration 42.000–51.500 Euros (based on a full-time position) per annum, subject to your experience.
  • An international team with motivated colleagues.
  • 2 days home office per week, with 3 days in our office in the centre of Berlin
  • Social security as stipulated by German standards.
  • A job ticket for public transport (“Deutschlandticket”).
  • Flexible hours (with core hours to be agreed).
  • 30 days holiday per year.

Start date: 1 March 2025.
