About the team you are joining

IATA’s Energy Transition department works with airlines, regulators and civil society to develop and implement policies and standards that support the sustainable development of air transport and mitigate its impact on the environment. You will join the team responsible for advocating for all climate change related policies, including decarbonization and sustainability efforts. One of our main responsibilities is to contribute to the development and achievement of our strategy for the successful implementation of global regulations for the aviation environment policies.

What your day would be like

  • Working with airlines, you will seek to identify challenges they face when complying with policy and regulatory requirements and provide them with the appropriate technical support.
  • You will support IATA’s efforts to ensure environmental policies are cost-effective, not unnecessarily restrictive, and aligned with the industry’s efforts and strategy for Net Zero by 2050. You will also make sure that advocacy efforts and technical input are supported by sound analysis and effective outreach materials.
  • You will represent the airlines’ interests in events and technical meetings, including ICAO’s Committees. In coordination with airline experts, you will participate in meetings and support the review and drafting of working papers. Another key aspect will be to support regional campaigns on effective policy and regulatory development.
  • You’ll also support the SVP E&S with secretariat functions for IATA’s Sustainability and Environment Advisory Council.
  • You will collaborate with colleagues from different teams in IATA and support other strategic priorities.
