The European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) is the largest European network of national, regional and local networks, involving anti-poverty NGOs and grassroot groups as well as European Organisations, active in the fight against poverty and social exclusion.

EAPN is looking to work with an experienced and enthusiastic individual with with events and with civil society organisations. The candidate will be part of a small team responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the EAPN largest annual conference (PeP Conference) and meetings while ensuring that they are in line with the network’s programmes objectives and overall mission. Previous working experiences in the field of poverty and social exclusion is a plus.

The candidate will be a key member of the PeP Conference team and work closely with the Participation and Development Officer, the Events and Communications staff.

EAPN is offering a full-time contract from September to December 2022 and the candidate must join the team in the Brussels office.

External events

  • Support the organization of the PeP Conference, working closely with the Director, the Participation and Membership Development Officer and other members of the EAPN team;
  • Support the EU and national level preparatory work for the PeP Conference;
  • Management of the organisation of the People Experiencing Poverty Conference (PeP): pre-planning meetings, coordination of complex logistics in line with the concept, documents and presentations, contacts with members, speakers, guests, help with the communications planning and work (conference documentation & promotion), making travel arrangements, coordinating with members, checking the reimbursement forms submitted etc.;
  • Support the activity and financial report of the Conference;
  • Similar tasks for other public seminars and also other events organised by EAPN (meeting of the Executive Committee and EU Inclusion Strategies Group).

Supporting the national level preparatory work

  • Act as a resource person for our national PeP coordinators, both proactively organizing work and responding to queries;
  • Proactively support various sub-committees of national coordinators;
  • Ensure that national coordinators have the clarity and the resources necessary to undertake meaningful preparatory work in advance of the PeP meeting;
  • Write notes of various meetings and discussions, ensuring prompt follow up of decisions and action points.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge

Essential:

  • Knowledge of information sharing;
  • Knowledge of NGO Networking;
  • Knowledge of administration systems.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of EU institutions and policies;
  • Knowledge of issues related to economic and social rights, preferably to poverty and social exclusion.

Skills/abilities

Essential:

  • Fluent in English and excellent ability to communicate in writing and orally;
  • Ability to analyse and manage data;
  • Research skills;
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, website CMS (WordPress), online platforms (google docs);
  • Ability to work as part of a team while being self-supporting;
  • Initiative and creativity in problem-solving.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of French;
  • At least 3 years’ experience of working with NGOs;
  • Experience of using participatory methodologies;
  • Experience of working with people experiencing poverty in different European countries;
  • Experience of organizing events.

The person will join a team of 10 fixed staff (Director, Policy Coordinator, 2 Policy Officers, Communications Officer, Development Officer, Information and Events Officer, Project Officer, Office Manager and Financial Officer). He/she/they will need to work with the other members of the team to ensure an integrated information sharing.
