More than 33,000 companies in Europe produce more than 500,000 medical technologies that share a common purpose: improving, extending and transforming people’s lives. With more than 14,000 patents filed annually, the medical technology industry is the most innovative industry in Europe.

MedTech Europe, the European trade association representing the medical technology industries, from diagnosis to cure, represent Diagnostics and Medical Devices manufacturers operating in Europe.

Since 2019, MedTech Europe and its members are heavily investing into European collaborative research initiatives like the Innovative Health Initiative. It is a new journey for the MedTech sector that requires a strong investment from our members and from MedTech Europe to inform, educate, accompany and guide companies.

We look for talents to join the team and support our members improve their awareness on EU opportunities and join or maybe coordinate Research & Innovation projects.

In this context, we are opening a vacancy for a Research & Innovation Intern, to work with our team on R&I in medical technologies.

Job Description

Reports to: Patrick Boisseau, Director General, Industry Strategic Initiatives

The Intern will contribute to the activities of the MedTech Europe’s R&I team to support the execution of MedTech Europe’s R&I strategy.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Surveying EU funding programmes suitable for medtech companies;
  • Monitoring open calls in EU programmes;
  • Identifying successful consultancy in proposal writing and project management;
  • Attending brokerage events in healthcare space;
  • Developing A-Z training guidelines for members on proposal writing;
  • Monitoring IHI projects with participation of MedTech Europe members.

Must-haves

  • Fluency in oral and written English;
  • Analytical mindset, ability to carry out research and present results effectively both in written and orally;
  • Reactiveness, ability to work independently and proven experience in taking responsibility;
  • Eye for detail, stress resistance, and a positive attitude;
  • IT savviness, including competence in standard Windows and MS Office applications;
  • Bachelor or higher-level education level in science/technology, social/political sciences;
  • Interest in medical technologies/healthcare and R&D.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with the EU R&D landscape;
  • Previous work experience in EU-related organisations;
  • Fluency in other EU languages;
  • Experience with policy monitoring and briefing skills.

Internship Details

  • Duration: 1-year full time (39 hours a week);

  • Starting date: 01 September 2022 (negotiable);
  • Remuneration: Convention d’immersion professionnelle (CIP).
