Agora Verkehrswende is a think tank that focuses on climate protection strategies for the transport sector. For this purpose, Agora engages with key players from politics, business, science and civil society. The aim of our work is to lay the foundations for achieving climate-neutrality in the German transport sector by 2045. In addition, Agora Verkehrswende is active in various international projects. In these projects, experiences of transport transformation in Germany are shared with the international community and, conversely, best practice examples from abroad are introduced into the German discourse.
For the support of the thematic field International Cooperation, Agora Verkehrswende is looking for a student assistant (max. 20 h/week) for the duration of one year with the option to extend.

Scope of tasks:

You will support the team in the implementation of project topics, in the organization and execution of events as well as in day-to-day project management tasks. The thematic focus lays on international cooperation in Asia (China, Thailand, India). To support the cooperation with Chinese project partners, Chinese command is required. The goal is to build capacity for a holistic approach to decarbonizing transport, to enable partner countries to raise their ambitions and meet or even increase their contributions to the Paris Climate Agreement (so-called Nationally Determined Contributions).
You will support these working areas

  • through research on selected issues in the field of climate protection in transport, in particular regarding the development of electromobility,
  • by researching data and graphical presentation,
  • by preparing project outlines, schedules, presentations and moderation documents,
  • by preparing and conducting quality control of project publications,
  • through the organization and implementation of events, including both internal and public workshops as well as larger conferences, as well as
  • by preparing documents, participating in meetings, and taking minutes.

We expect you to:

  • be enthusiastic about the future issues of transport, especially about the transformation of transport in a fair and ecological/sustainable/climate-neutral way,
  • have experience in writing scientific studies,
  • have had initial practical experience (e.g., through previous internships),
  • be diligent, independent and goal-oriented in your work,
  • be competent in the use of MS Office programs (in particular Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook),
  • be capable of quantitative analysis and its graphical representation,
  • be fluent in Chinese and English/have very good Chinese and English command, knowledge of German is preferable but not mandatory.
  • enjoy working in a team.

We offer you:

  • the chance to work in a highly professional, committed team on one of the essential global tasks of the future,
  • insights into the working methods of a think tank, as well as
  • experience in editing and publishing ongoing projects
  • Exposure to international cooperation
