Founded in 1969, the International Organization of the Flavor Industry (IOFI) is the global association representing the industry that creates, produces, and sells flavorings worldwide. With eighteen regional and national associations and eleven major global companies as members, a management staff of scientific and regulatory experts located in Brussels and Washington D.C. and a network of top-notch industry volunteers, IOFI interacts with stakeholders around the world.
To strengthen our team in Brussels we are looking for a Junior Regulatory Affairs and Advocacy Officer as of mid of August 2026.
Provide support to the IOFI Regulatory Affairs and Advocacy Teams;
Organize committee meetings, ensure proper follow-up of meetings, and accompany different IOFI regulatory and advocacy initiatives;
Ensure a thorough monitoring of industry critical regulatory/legislative developments in key markets/regions covering inter alia food flavoring/additive legislation, general food legislation, food ingredient related legislation, and other relevant legislative areas and policy initiatives (e.g., labeling, health and nutrition, and chemical management);
Assess relevant regulatory and policy developments at international level with particular attention to Codex Alimentarius and WHO/FAO;
Contribute to the development of regular membership information (Information Letters, newsletters, annual reports, guidance documents, fact sheets, etc.);
Develop advocacy tools/materials (e.g., position papers, holding statements, official IOFI letters, presentation materials) under the supervision of the Director of Advocacy and Regulatory Affairs;
Respond to membership queries (“regulatory affairs helpdesk” function);
Other tasks as assigned by the IOFI Executive Director.
Advanced degree (MA) in Law, international relations, public affairs or related areas, or final degree in food or life sciences with a robust regulatory background based on previous work experience;
Minimum of one (1) year work experience in a comparable position;
Experience in the food/ingredients/FMCG sector and/or in a law firm or a legal/regulatory department in the private sector would be a plus;
Professional proficiency in English (especially written) – more languages are an asset;
Strong expertise in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, Teams and Co-Pilot);
Expertise in elaborating visual content (mind-maps, facts, figures, etc.) is a plus;
Excellent planner, organizer, and team player;
Engagement, commitment, and hands-on mentality are crucial qualities.
A full-time basis contract under Belgian Law;
