ECI is looking for a curious, up-and-coming policy professional to join its team in Brussels. A passionate cyclist is a plus!
European Cycling Industries is the united voice of the European cycling sector, representing manufacturers, technology providers, and national industry associations across Europe. The organisation brings together the expertise to promote and support the industry, from technical regulatory work and manufacturing to innovative business models such as bike sharing, bike leasing, last-mile deliveries, and digital services.
We are seeking a Policy Trainee to contribute to ECI’s advocacy activities. This traineeship offers hands-on experience in advocacy, public affairs, and engaging with the EU institutions within a European trade association. The intern will work closely on Industrial Strategy and Energy issues affecting the European Cycling Industry and relevant EU legislation and their impact on cycling in Europe. The intern will help across a range of activities that push forward the position of the European Cycling Industry through advocacy work in Brussels and through policy workshops and events in Brussels and across the various member states. You will be working closely with Tanveer Ahmed, Policy Manager for Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Support the Policy Manager with research, coordination, and the “daily firefighting” activities of public affairs work.
Assist with briefing technical updates to newsletters, coordinating outreach amongst members and with institutions, and organizing meetings, workshops, and exchanges on policy issues with members and external parties.
Map stakeholders and their relevant positions on policy issues that would affect ECI and explore possible alignment.
Support the organisation of working group meetings, including agendas, documentation and follow-up actions, ultimately leading to chairing the discussions.
Draft working papers, briefing notes and presentations that would accompany these meetings.
Organize workshops with member states on promoting the leasing pillar of ECI’s industrial action plan and work on increasing the accessibility of bicycles for EU citizens.
Help prepare relevant policy positions, co-draft position papers and work with the manager on formulating ECI’s industrial strategy and energy policy.
Support other colleagues in the team with their work as and when needed.

6-month full-time internship position in an international and dynamic work environment, in ECI’s Brussels office, under the conditions of the Brussels Region programme for professional immersion (CIP) with a monthly remuneration fee.
