Job Summary: Lungs Europe is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior EU Project and grant Manager to oversee the successful application, planning, implementation, and delivery of EU-funded projects focused on respiratory health. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management and expertise in lung health research or public health interventions. This individual will be based in Brussels, reporting to the European Lung Foundation Director in Sheffield, UK, and the Director of Scientific Activities in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Key responsibilities:
Manage a portfolio of EU-funded projects focused on respiratory health from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
Develop and maintain project plans, including timelines, budgets and resource allocation, as well as communication, dissemination and stakeholder engagement plans to ensure the successful implementation of the project objectives
Coordinate project activities between the different offices in Belgium, Switzerland and United Kingdom and liaise with external project partners and stakeholders, including public health organizations, healthcare providers and patient groups, to ensure effective communication and collaboration
Identify and manage project risks, issues and dependencies, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies where necessary, and ensuring compliance with EU regulations and reporting requirements
Provide regular project updates to senior management and internal and external project partners, highlighting any significant issues or risks affecting project delivery
Lead project team meetings and motivate team members to achieve project objectives, ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the project team
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external project partners and stakeholders, fostering a culture of partnership and collaboration
Manage project finances, including budget tracking, forecasting and reporting, ensuring that project resources are utilized efficiently and effectively within the allocated budget
Constantly review and assesses opportunities within EU funding programmes of potential interest for the respiratory community
Process requests for ELF and ERS participation in EU calls applications, contribute to the proposal writing to ensure optimal positioning of ERS and ELF in the consortium
Develop ability and capacity for Lungs Europe to support grant writing and coordination.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree – preferably in a relevant field such as public health, medicine or biomedical sciences
At least 5 years of experience managing EU-funded projects
Strong knowledge of respiratory health research and implementation
Excellent project management skills, including planning, budgeting, risk management and stakeholder management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with project partners and stakeholders
Good grounding in EU rules and regulations especially regarding reporting requirements and solid finance skills
Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail
Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential, and proficiency in other European languages is an advantage.
Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience of writing or coordinating the writing of project applications desired
