Aktion Vierviertel

Aktion Vierviertel is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting democracy in Switzerland so that its residents can participate as full members in political and social life by obtaining citizenship. The civil society movement Aktion Vierviertel was founded in 2020; it is politically and religiously neutral and is based in Basel and Zurich.

Aktion Vierviertel advocates for: a fundamental right to naturalization, equal and full political and social participation for all residents of Switzerland, objective and fair naturalization procedures, and the right of birth (ius soli) for all children born in Switzerland.

The name refers to the fact that Switzerland currently excludes about a quarter of its population from citizenship and thus from political participation. This is unworthy of a (direct) democracy and must change so that ultimately four-fifths of the population are included.
