What is #aufstehn?

#aufstehn is the civil society campaign organization in Austria. We are a movement of committed people who advocate for change—for positive coexistence, social justice, and a future worth living. Using digital tools, we join forces, make our voices heard, and help shape politics and society.

What does #aufstehn stand for?

• We are the voice of over half a million people across Austria: We draw attention to important issues and fight together for change and improvement.

• We are independent, nonprofit, and nonpartisan, yet we take a clear stand: for policies that eliminate injustices and create equal opportunities for all. For a society based on solidarity, where everyone can fulfill their potential—regardless of gender, age, background, sexual orientation, religion, or physical and mental abilities.

• We rely on digital tools, but our work isn’t limited to the internet: Through protests, rallies, and dialogue with decision-makers, we ensure that our demands are heard.

• We are active throughout Austria while thinking on a European and international scale—and we collaborate with partner organizations from other countries.

Who is behind #aufstehn?

At the heart of #aufstehn is the #aufstehn community, with over half a million active members who take part in campaigns, sign petitions, or participate in public actions.

The #aufstehn team pulls everything together: We monitor political and social developments, plan impactful campaigns, and ensure that the concerns of the #aufstehn community reach decision-makers.
