Three-quarters of the Swiss population live in cities and urban communities. These urban areas account for 84% of our country’s economic output—in the interest and for the benefit of all of Switzerland.
The importance of cities to our country is increasingly recognized, and a growing number of people are choosing our urban centers as places to live, work, and settle. Cities have much to offer people. However, they are also heavily affected by all political issues—from financial, transportation, spatial, and housing policies to education, family, social, and integration policies, and even cultural policies.
The Swiss Cities Association advocates for this urban Switzerland in the political arena and among the public, safeguarding the interests of its members from all parts of the country, always with the goal of a strong Switzerland in the global competition among business locations.
