Encompassing 28 member institutions, the German Climate Consortium – Deutsches Klima-Konsortium (DKK e. V.) – convenes the leading players of climate science in Germany, and reflects the growing diversity of climate science and climate impact research. Alongside natural science-based climate research, the social sciences play an increasingly important role in understanding the conditions, drivers, and concepts of societal change. The interactions between climate, biodiversity, sustainability, and transformation research are a further focus of the DKK.

  • We represent the key German climate research institutions and form an integrative platform for our members as well as for the public.

  • We are in active dialogue with decision-makers and provide science-based contributions in order to give orientation for climate policy making as well as to help formulate and implement climate policy measures.

  • We provide climate research to media and society in order to contribute to a better understanding of climate change.

  • We bring together findings on the state of climate research and contribute to the development and formulation of research funding programmes.

  • We promote the exchange of information and support interdisciplinary co-operation in climate research.
