epicenter.works is Austria's leading NGO for strengthening fundamental rights and freedoms in the digital age. The donation-funded association campaigns against the expansion of state surveillance, for the fundamental right to data protection, and for a free and open internet. Even in its early days, the association (then known as “AKVorrat”) mobilized over 100,000 people and succeeded in getting the EU Data Retention Directive overturned by the European Court of Justice in 2014.
