The Climate Alliance Germany is a broad-based social coalition for climate protection. With more than 150 member organizations from the fields of the environment, the church and other religious communities, development, education, culture, health, consumer protection, youth, social affairs, and labor unions, it advocates for ambitious and socially just climate policies at the local, national, European, and international levels. The central goal of the German Climate Alliance is to integrate social and environmental issues and to contribute to a more just and livable society. It brings people together around shared demands and actions, thereby making it clear that climate protection is a concern for society as a whole. Its member organizations represent approximately 32 million individual members.
Members of the German Climate Alliance help shape the alliance’s policy direction and further development. They share responsibility for implementing and communicating the goals of the German Climate Alliance.
The German Climate Alliance e.V. is a registered nonprofit association. The basis for cooperation is the Articles of Association, the Code of Conduct, and the policy statement.
To strengthen European cooperation, the German Climate Alliance joined the Climate Action Network Europe (CAN Europe) in October 2013. CAN Europe is an umbrella organization with over 120 member organizations in 25 European countries; it focuses on European energy and climate policy and coordinates the joint positions of its member organizations.
