About us

ufuq.de strives to engage in calm discussions about the issues, questions, and conflicts in our migration society. We want to contribute to solidarity and cooperation, and to this end we work at the intersection of education, political education, science, and politics. One focus of our work is Islam, anti-Muslim racism, and universal Islamism prevention.

The name of our association says it all: ufuq is Arabic and means horizons or perspectives. “How do we want to live?” is one of our guiding questions. We are particularly interested in the lives of young people with and without migration backgrounds: What are their interests, desires, and goals? What experiences do they have, and what role does their origin or religion play for them? What do they identify with, and what makes it difficult for them to belong, identify, and participate?

We use this knowledge to work with young people in workshops and to support professionals in education and youth work in dealing with social pluralism, racism, and other forms of discrimination, as well as with religious, cultural, or nationalistic ideologies of exclusion and devaluation.
