The Association of German Mineral Springs (VDM)

The Association of German Mineral Springs (VDM) represents the common economic and political interests of its approximately 150 members at national and European level. Since its foundation in 1904, the VDM has been committed to the interests of the mineral spring industry and supports its member companies in a variety of ways. To date, the VDM has developed into a modern association for the political and communicative representation of the traditional German mineral water industry. The VDM's work focuses on the diverse political and legal issues of water law, recycling management, packaging policy, nutrition policy, and health and consumer protection. In addition, the VDM is committed to public relations and consumer communication regarding mineral water as a natural product.

With a per capita consumption of 125.6 liters (2024), natural mineral water is the most popular thirst quencher among people in Germany. The spring water companies in Germany bottle a total of around 13 billion liters of mineral and medicinal water as well as mineral spring soft drinks every year and employ more than 10,000 people.
