After weeks of negotiations, the CDU/CSU and SPD have agreed on their coalition agreement.
After weeks of negotiations, the new federal government consisting of the CDU/CSU and SPD has agreed on its coalition agreement. The Tagesschau summarizes what the black-red coalition has in store.
With regard to the labor market, the new coalition plans to retain the solidarity surcharge for high earners and companies, but to reduce the tax on small and medium incomes. However, according to the future chancellor, the latter is not yet certain, reports Deutschlandfunk.
There are also changes in store with regard to working hours: in the future, there will be a weekly time frame for working hours instead of the usual eight-hour day. In addition, the minimum wage is to be increased to 15 euros per hour. However, this is still the subject of intense debate. The SPD and the Union interpret the wording in the joint coalition agreement differently, as reported by MDR. The coming weeks will reveal which changes will actually be implemented.
