The award recognizes companies that are innovative and committed to promoting equal pay for women and men.
The German Equal Pay Awards were presented for the third time in a row last week. This award recognizes companies that are innovative and committed to promoting equal pay for women and men and developing new ideas and concepts in the process. Previous winners include Vodafone and Roche.
This year, three companies were once again honored for their efforts: These include Barilla Deutschland GmbH, which takes an intersectional perspective on remuneration through a special compensation concept, thus taking multiple forms of discrimination into account. Metafinanz Informationssysteme GmbH was also honored for its focus on transparency and co-determination, as well as for its structurally anchored and person-independent salary review process within the company. The third company to receive the award was Oper Leipzig. The jury recognized it for its role as a “pioneer in the cultural sector” and for its commitment to equal pay despite difficult starting conditions.
The awards have been presented since 2022 as part of the corporate program “Promoting equal pay – advising, supporting, and strengthening companies”, which has been run by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs since the end of 2020 and aims to support companies in achieving salary equality and transparency. The award is therefore presented by Minister Lisa Paus, with an eight-member jury of experts deciding on the winners in advance. Its members include Marie Zeisler from the Allbright Foundation, Lena Marbacher from Neue Narrative magazine, and Prof. Dr. Miriam Beblo from the University of Hamburg.
