As an integrated supervisory authority, the FMA generally enables “one-stop shopping,” meaning that all regulatory procedures can be handled in one place. As an authority, the FMA has sovereign power: it can issue binding standards, such as regulations and notices, or take coercive measures, such as revoking licenses, dismissing executives, or imposing administrative penalties. It also accompanies the supervised companies throughout their entire life cycle: from the granting of the license that authorizes them to conduct business, through ongoing supervision during their business activities, to liquidation, revocation, or surrender of the license.
