About the organization

Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG (KVB), which started out as a horse-drawn tram company in 1877, is one of the largest local transport companies in Germany with around 4,000 employees and is the environmentally friendly mobility service provider in Cologne and the surrounding region.

Around 286 million people traveled on our buses and trains in 2019, the year before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. On a normal working day, up to 900,000 people use our bus and train services. More than 300,000 people are now regular KVB customers. Our transport services are therefore indispensable for the mobility of people in the city and the region. With its growth strategy, KVB is one of the driving forces behind the urgently needed transport revolution: with its bus and train services and the KVB bike-share scheme.

Sustainability plays an important role for us: in our social and economic activities as well as in environmental and climate protection. Our goal is to be locally climate-neutral by 2035.

Our diversity is our strength. We employ over 4,000 people from more than 40 countries.
