The Ludwig Erhard Foundation was established in Bonn in 1967 by former German Chancellor Ludwig Erhard as a non-profit association. As such, it is independent of political parties and associations and has since served to further develop and strengthen the social market economy. To this end, the foundation established the Ludwig Erhard Forum for Economics and Society in Berlin in September 2022. The Ludwig Erhard Forum was established as a think tank and regulatory economics research unit not only to preserve Ludwig Erhard's work and legacy, but above all to develop his ideas further and bring them into the social discourse.
