About the FIS

The Nachrichtendienst des Bundes identifies and combats terrorism, violent extremism, espionage, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems, and cyberattacks on critical infrastructure. It researches and analyzes information in Switzerland and abroad that is of central importance to our country's security policy. In doing so, it makes a decisive contribution to the overall assessment of the situation by the political authorities.

The FIS works primarily for the Federal Council and the federal departments. It also supports the cantons in maintaining internal security and the law enforcement authorities at the federal level.
