About the Zurich Region Planning Association and Umgang

The Planungsdachverband Region Zürich und Umgebung is committed to the sustainable development of the dynamic “RZU area.” This area encompasses the city of Zurich and 67 other towns and villages in a metropolitan area that currently has around one million inhabitants and 880,000 jobs. It forms the urban core of the Zurich metropolitan area – one of the “main economic drivers of Switzerland” according to the Swiss Spatial Concept. At the same time, it is also a green region: open landscapes, waterways, and forests make up over two-thirds of the total area.

As an umbrella planning organization, the RZU effectively promotes the interests of its members. According to its statutes, it is active in the following three areas:
