The Swiss Society for the Common Good (SSCG) was founded as an association in 1810. It promotes social cohesion, an active civil society and a vibrant democratic culture in Switzerland. Since its foundation, it has been a pioneer, repeatedly launching new initiatives in the interests of the country, helping to finance them and supporting them as they become established. In doing so, the SGG brings together stakeholders from business, politics and society. In 1860, the SGG donated the Rütli to the Swiss Confederation, has managed it ever since and organises the Swiss National Day celebrations there on 1 August.
