In 2004, volunteer Wikipedia contributors founded the non-profit organisation Wikimedia Deutschland in Berlin, which now has over 110,000 members and 190 full-time staff.
Free knowledge leads to a fairer world. Wikipedia is the most significant online collection of knowledge of our time. The German-language Wikipedia alone has just under 1 billion page views per month and currently comprises 3 million articles. We support the volunteers at Wikipedia and its sister projects, develop free software such as Wikidata, and advocate for access to knowledge, the opening up of education and research, and a greater focus on the common good in data policy.
