The WWF mission

The combined climate and biodiversity crisis is a threat that is becoming increasingly apparent to all of us. That is why we must act now. Because it is about our shared foundations of life.

The WWF's mission: We want to stop the destruction of nature worldwide and shape a future in which humans and nature live in harmony. As a science-based and independent organisation, the WWF is committed to protecting and restoring the diversity of nature.

Since its foundation in 1963, WWF Austria has been fighting for habitats and species in Austria that are particularly worthy of protection. As nature conservation should know no boundaries, WWF Austria also advocates for nature and species conservation internationally. And our work is paying off: we can celebrate significant successes both in Austria and around the globe! Every two years, WWF also publishes the Living Planet Report, which details the state of global wildlife populations.
