The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is offering the Passenger Vehicles Life-Cycle Assessment Fellowship in Berlin

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is an award-winning, independent, global, non-profit research organization that provides data-driven research to advance policies that reduce the health and environmental impacts of the transportation sector. The ICCT offers a mission-driven and culturally diverse workplace where intelligence, flexibility, transparency, and good humor are highly valued. Join our team of more than 100 talented researchers and operations staff with offices in Washington D.C., San Francisco, Berlin, Beijing, and São Paulo.

The ICCT is looking for a highly motivated and committed Fellow to contribute to international passenger vehicles life-cycle greenhouse gas emission studies. Based on a comparison of the life-cycle emissions of combustion engine and electric vehicles in China, Europe, India, and the United States (https://theicct.org/publications/global-LCA-passenger-cars-jul2021), the ICCT is looking to expand the analysis to further main vehicle markets, such as Brazil, Indonesia, and Japan. This fellowship will be based in our Berlin, Germany office. The length of the fellowship will be negotiable, from 6 to 12 months. You will report to an ICCT Researcher.

You Will:

  • Collect and analyze data on the carbon intensities of regional fossil fuels, biofuels and electricity mixes, on combustion engine and electric vehicle market statistics, and on the real-world usage of vehicles;
  • Evaluate how current policies would affect future fuel and electricity mixes, and future vehicle markets;
  • Contribute to high quality research to support the development of CO2 emissions or fuel economy standards and electric vehicle policies;
  • Support in writing white papers, briefings, and blog posts;
  • Collaborate with ICCT staff on emerging projects based on need and perform other duties as assigned, including battery production and recycling related policies.

You Have:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, science, economics, or related field;
  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel;
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and research skills;
  • Ability to work independently and engaging effectively with team members;
  • Demonstrated interest and experience studying energy, transportation, and climate change;
  • Strong interpersonal and English communication skills, both written and verbal. Indonesian, Japanese, or Portuguese is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), temporary position for 6 to 12 months, with a start date in early 2022. You will be based in ICCT’s Berlin office. Your salary will be €2,800 per month in addition to health insurance, paid time off, hybrid office/remote flexibilities and other great benefits.

How to apply:

Please submit your application here. Please submit a cover letter, resume, two relevant writing samples (links to other applicable reports within your resume are also welcome), and references. Preference will be given to candidates whose cover letters directly address the position being offered. Applications without the supplemental materials will receive less consideration.
