Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy

For 30 years, the Austria Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES), as an independent research institute, has been providing public sector stakeholders with expertise and recommendations on issues related to security, defense, and foreign policy. Our analytical work focuses on issues related to European integration, the EU’s Neighborhood Policy, the Common Security and Defense Policy and its interaction with NATO, security developments in the Indo-Pacific region, and the global challenges of the 21st century. In this context, we produce needs-based analyses and recommendations for our contractual partners, author analytical studies, and regularly organize internal expert workshops as well as public discussion events.
