About Us

For over 90 years, the conservation and promotion of nature

in the Canton of Zurich have been close to our hearts. BirdLife Zurich is an association of over 100 nature and bird conservation groups. Working hand in hand with our members and in collaboration with our umbrella organization, BirdLife Switzerland, we help nature thrive in Zurich.

BirdLife Zurich was founded in 1928 as the “Zurich Cantonal Association for Bird Conservation,” and to this day, our organizational structure is shaped by the spirit of that founding association.

As a nature conservation organization, we are committed to safeguarding the natural foundations of life for people, animals, and plants. The conservation and promotion of biodiversity, native bird species, and their habitats are our primary concerns. We offer professionally led courses on nature-related topics and support teachers and students in learning about birds. Currently, we invest approximately a quarter of a million Swiss francs annually in habitat and species conservation.
