Youth information centers are Austrian specialist agencies that prepare and provide information tailored to young people for non-commercial purposes. Youth information supports young people in their development and offers assistance at the threshold to adulthood by providing free, up-to-date, relevant, and understandable information. In addition, our services and activities promote the empowerment of young people.
A total of 26 centers in all federal states offer comprehensive services for young people between the ages of 12 and 26 and handle around 180,000 inquiries annually on all topics relevant to young people: from education and work, to opportunities abroad and housing for young people, to youth protection and leisure activities. Statistics show that most inquiries relate to training and employment, as well as (voluntary) work and living in Europe. In addition, the youth information centers' online services are used by around 4.5 million visitors annually. The Federal Network of Austrian Youth Information Centers (BÖJI) is the national and international representative and contact point for federal funding agencies, partners, and the media. BÖJI has been involved in the development of the current Austrian Youth Strategy from the outset and regularly participates in federal structures to further develop national youth policy.
