About Us – Organization

Our members determine the policies and decisions of our union. Only volunteer members have the right to vote on the executive boards, at delegate assemblies, and at the convention. Union staff members participate only in an advisory capacity.

The VPOD upholds this separation of powers at all levels. The presidents of the federation, the regions, the sections, and the commissions all serve in an honorary capacity. The union’s professional staff—the general secretary, central secretaries, and regional secretaries—generally have only an advisory role at all levels.
