Public Libraries 2030 (PL2030) is looking for a
Public Libraries 2030 (PL2030) is a Brussels-based advocacy organisation and hub for innovative EU projects in the European public library sector. PL2030 has curated a network of over 40 innovative ‘Lighthouse Libraries’ across over 20 European countries who are engaged in redefining the role of libraries within the themes of digital futures, sustainability, well-being, community, and democratic participation. Alongside its EU-funded projects, PL2030 collaborates with major European library organisations to advocate for policies and funding that empower libraries to contribute to EU objectives while also enhancing capacity building and access to resources for public libraries across Europe.
We are looking for a Communication & Projects Officer to join our team in Brussels. We’re looking for someone who is driven by democratic values and is motivated to explore how Europe’s 65,000 public libraries can help to solve big societal challenges. You’ll need to be proactive, flexible and organised. Working in a small team of three means you’ll be able to get stuck into various aspects of PL2030’s work and quickly gain responsibility.
The successful candidate will contribute to the work of the PL2030 team in the following areas:
Managing online digital presence / communication channels and strategy for PL2030 and our projects (Social media, WordPress website, Newsletter)
Project management including the management of EU-funded projects under the Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, and Creative Europe programmes
Supporting PL2030’s fundraising activities including bid writing for EU-funded projects
Events management including the content and logistical aspects of events such as workshops, panels, and other conferences as part of EU-funded projects
Supporting PL2030 governance mechanisms including Board meetings, taking minutes, and other administrative activities
Travelling regularly for work
Excellent spoken and written English. Knowledge of another European language is an asset.
Academic background in a relevant field (eg: communications, journalism, European studies, project management etc).
Good understanding of EU institutions and decision-making processes.
Strong communication and editorial skills, especially written communication skills, adapted to various channels.
Ability to juggle different activities, prioritise and adapt.
Strong independent worker
Knowledge of Canva, WordPress CMS, and Mailchimp
Right to live and work in Belgium.
Graphic design is a plus
Desire to learn and a can-do attitude!
We are looking for someone who could start as soon as possible for a permanent full-time contract. Gross salary approximately 2000 euros/month with teleworking allowance, travel allowance, lunch vouchers and pension.
