
Eurostat releases new unemployment rate figures: surprising development
Surprising figures on the unemployment rate in the eurozone were released by the European Statistical Office last Thursday, according to Handelsblatt (€).
According to the report, the unemployment rate rose from 6.2% in the previous month to 6.3%, contrary to the expectations of economists surveyed, who had only anticipated stagnation. While Malta and Slovenia recorded the lowest rates in the EU at 2.9%, Germany performed better than average at 3.7%, as the results show.
