34 young decision-makers from companies, startups, and politics are the Bertelsmann Foundation's “Voices of Economic Transformation” 2024.
Thirty-four young decision-makers and thought leaders from business and politics are addressing the challenges and opportunities of economic transformation toward a sustainable social market economy and, in a co-creation process, are developing 19 position papers on their views and recommendations: This is the principle behind the Bertelsmann Stiftung's “Voices of Economic Transformation.” This year's work focuses on three highly topical issues: artificial intelligence (AI), the circular economy, and reskilling and upskilling. Given the disruptive power of AI technologies and the speed of current developments, part of “Voices 2024” focused on the role of artificial intelligence in overcoming the challenges of transformation. For example, the Voices argue that AI can and will play a major role in solving the shortage of skilled workers. Every employee at every career level can benefit from reskilling and upskilling – this is the premise of those Voices who developed theses on this topic and selected six exemplary target groups: For example, they focused on how women, young talents, and people with a migration background can receive the ideal training measures for them. In addition, the focus was on managers, employees of SMEs, and support staff. We were also interested in the following topics:
Migration I: In view of the end of the Assad regime, there is increasing debate in Germany about how to deal with Syrian refugees politically. The IAB shows what their situation is currently like, primarily with regard to the labor market.
Migration II: In contrast, Die Zeit took a look at labor migration across Europe, citing data from the ILO. This shows that 23.3% of people in Europe work outside their country of birth.
German economy: Many companies in Germany are severely affected by the current economic crisis. For many, this is also leading to insolvency: the current number of company bankruptcies is as high as it was in 2015, reports Tagesschau.
