We (Digitaleurope) are seeking an experienced

Senior Policy Manager

to join our team and lead our EU policy efforts related to data centres.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the EU policy landscape and be able to develop and implement outreach and communication strategies, e.g., in the following topics:

  • Energy efficiency of data centres and the role of data centres in reducing the energy consumption from the ICT sector, internet traffic, and the digital future;
  • Accelerating innovation for the future of energy and decarbonisation of the grid (energy storage, green hydrogen, 24/7 carbon-free energy, heat recovery).

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Oversee our project on data centres, the key integral enablers of the green transition in Europe;
  • Drive consensus in the group and support the development of position papers and other materials, including research and analysis;
  • Monitor and analyse EU policy developments of relevance to the Data Centres sector;
  • Prepare and implement outreach and communication activities, and build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders;
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including EU policymakers, industry associations, consultancies conducting research/studies on behalf of the EU Commission, and other relevant organizations.

Required competencies and skills

  • Knowledge and experience with the data centres sector;
  • Deep understanding of the code of conducts and/or standards;
  • Master level University education with 5-8 years of relevant work experience, with an ideal focus on data centre policy;
  • Strong experience in environment, energy and digital policy;
  • Knowledge of the EU decision-making processes and key stakeholders;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and assess risks and opportunities related to policy developments impacting the Data Centre;
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken – other languages are an asset – and a proven track record of drafting positions papers, articles and speeches;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in an international context;
  • Ability to manage multiple issues and deadlines;
  • Strong integrity and the ability to prioritize and focus;
  • Self-driven and organised.
