The swiss academies of arts and sciences is Switzerland's largest scientific network.

With over 100,000 volunteer members, we build bridges between science, society, business, and politics. The a+ alliance of academies consists of the four academies for natural sciences (SCNAT), humanities and social sciences (SAGW), medical sciences (SAMW), and technical sciences (SATW), as well as the competence centers Science et Cité and TA-SWISS.

Together, they comprise 154 professional societies, 132 commissions, and 29 cantonal and regional societies. Young researchers are organized in the Swiss Young Academy. The a+ academies association raises awareness of the sciences as a central pillar of cultural and economic development. Its broad support base makes it a representative partner for politics. a+ connects scientific actors, provides expertise, promotes dialogue between science and society, identifies and evaluates scientific developments, and lays a solid foundation for young scientists.
