About us

We are deeply committed to addressing the issues of tomorrow and take responsibility for the entire region in southern Austria. And we have been doing so since 1585. With 30,000 students and 4,700 employees, we make a significant contribution to the vibrant life of Styria's capital city.

We work for tomorrow – this motto guides the students and researchers at the University of Graz: they look to the future, take on challenges, and develop solutions for tomorrow's world.

Climate researcher Gottfried Kirchengast played a key role in developing the slogan: “We work for tomorrow reflects the forward-looking, proactive, and progressive nature of our critical thinking and work. It emphasizes our desire as researchers to proactively shape the prosperous development of our society, economy, and environment with our findings and their communication.”
